Happy Spring Break families!
I hope you all are having a great week. Here are just a few updates as we go into our break.
MAP Testing: Students took the MAP test this past week and almost everyone has completed it. Once we all complete the test, I will send scores home. Because we took the test in March instead of May, their scores reflect the Spring averages without all of the weeks of instruction. I will recalculate for weeks of instruction and send a letter home explaining what your child's scores mean. We decided to take the test now so that we can find the gaps and focus on what students need to learn before the school year ends.
Save the Date! Please make sure to save the date for our End of the Year Astronomy Camp-out! It will be on the evening of Saturday, June 2nd! As the date gets closer, I could use help with coordinating carpooling if someone wants to help with that. Students will be camping with their families and siblings are more than welcome to join! I will also send a sign-up for food for our barbecue potluck. Thank you!
Homework: Just a reminder: As I mentioned in my previous post, after Spring Break, students will need to turn their homework in or they will be working on it at recess (if it is more than 1 day late.) Thank you for all your support in helping your child with their homework!
Endangered Animal Research Project: Students brought a research packet home today that is due Wednesday, April 4th. This includes drawing their animal and answering the questions on the sheet. It should not take more than an hour or so to complete. If your child would like to change their animal, please e-mail me and I will let you know if that one is available. The rest of the research will happen at school. All families are invited to our Endangered Animal Exhibit on Friday, April 20th from 3:00-3:25 in the CHPCS lunchroom. This will be during our Field trip Friday. I hope you can join us!
