Hello families, Here are some more updates for this month! Mad Tea Party: We are reading Alice in Wonderland in class and we will also do Through the Looking Glass. You will be getting an invitation soon from your child to come join us at the Mad Tea Party! We will have tea and treats, croquet in the grass, and a short reader's theater presentation. This will take place on Thursday, September 27th at 2:45. Students (and adults!) are allowed to dress up during the party as a character from one of the two books. I will be the Queen of Hearts! First Core Knowledge quiz: On Monday, we will have a quiz on the muscular system. I encouraged students to bring their notes home to study. It will be a short quiz, just identifying the skeletal muscles names and telling the difference between voluntary and involuntary muscles. If your child forgot their notebook, or is still improving their note-taking skills, here are the names we made studied: (Trapezius and Pectorals will not be on the quiz, but I mentioned them in class, so they are not crossed out!) OMSI Makers Faire: This weekend OMSI is having a Makers Faire! Mrs. Pridey will be taking part and invites you all to join. Mrs. Pridey will be there Sunday from 1-5:30 molding keychain hats and coins. It does cost the regular OMSI entrance fee, plus a few other fees if you want to take part in big projects. If you are interested, here is the link! Lice and Sickness: Unfortunately, there has been lice reported in our school. I have not heard of any cases in our classroom, but if you suspect your child has lice, please check their heads or have them checked. We will not be doing whole-school or whole-class checks, but lice checks will be available in the office on a case-by-case basis. Also, I had several students tell me on Thursday that they had a sore throat! I hope sickness is not already spreading, but if your child is sick, please let me know and we will send make-up work home when they return. Thanks! Field Trip: For our field trip on October 5th, please send your child with a snack, lunch, water bottle, and in full uniform, with a coat. Red or white field trip t-shirts are OK, but no other colors please. Thank you! Save the Date! We will be having our Astronomy Camp-Out on June 1st at Milo McIver Park in the Kingfisher Group tent site. This is a fun event, already paid for, and if you don't want to camp that night, it is totally optional to spend the night! We will have astronomers bringing powerful telescopes to see constellations, planets, and even other galaxies in the sky that night! Our dinner will be a potluck BBQ, which is always fun, plus s'mores. Almost our entire class came last year, I hope we keep this tradition alive! It's a great way to end the school year! I hope you and your family can make it!
