It's feeling like Spring weather out there already! Here are some more updates for our classroom:
BOB Battles: Our class has completed two BOB Battles (vs. 4th grade and vs. 5th grade). We have three more battles to go! You are welcome to watch. Tomorrow at 2:15 we will be battling 7th grade. On Monday (3/2) at 11:00, we will battle 8th grade. And on March 3rd at 3:10 we will battle 6th grade. Our first battle we got 35 points and today we got 24. Thanks to everyone for supporting your child in reading the BOB books at home! Family Reading Night: The sign-ups have gone out for Family Reading Night. If you haven't had a chance to sign up yet, here it is! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0d4fa5af23a20-family3 Don't forget to sign up for two sessions. One at 6:30 and one at 7. We will have a student vs. teacher BOB Battle (just for fun) after both sessions! Weather Test: We have our next Science test this Thursday. Students were instructed to bring their Science notebooks home to study. Tomorrow, in lieu of Riggs homework, students will have a study guide crossword to complete with vocabulary to review from the unit. New History Unit and Presentations: Next week, we will begin a new Core Knowledge unit on American History: 13 Colonies and Explorers. Students will be researching the colonies and creating a research project presentation with a partner. Presentations will take place on Wednesday, March 18th from 2:30-3:15. This project is created at school, so there will be no extra work at home this time! You are welcome to join us for the presentations! PTA Auction Basket: A flyer went out yesterday about our PTA Basket. Our theme is Family Movie Night. So you can think of either a night in with a DVD, or a night out to the movies. Anything movie-themed is welcome! Please drop off your donation in our classroom or the office. Thanks! Portfolios: Students will be bringing their portfolios home tomorrow so that families can see their latest Math test scores. Their latest Orthography score will be in there as well. Please discuss with your child challenges and successes you are seeing. At this point in the year, if they are not scoring 15/20 or higher on their written Math tests, they need to be working extra hard on the problems they are missing to catch up. If you have any questions, please let me know. Field Trip Chaperones: Help! We need at least 2 more chaperones to go on our March 13th field trip to the Dibble House. This is a fun trip where students get hands-on experience with colonial and settlement-era activities. If you are able to attend, please sign up ASAP! We will be back by 1:30 if that helps anyone be able to attend. Thanks! Upcoming Events: All School Assembly: February 27th at 8am Family Reading Night: March 5th at 6:30 Field Trip Friday: March 13th (Dibble House in Molalla) 13 Colonies Presentations: March 18th at 2:30 Spring Break: March 23rd-27th
